Please read "How to set up requirements" for an overview on organizing your requirements tree.
The Requirements application can be found in the Test Lead's Desktop, Tester's Desktop and any other role's Desktop that has been given access to this application. This application - the first one to start using in a Release - is used to identify the main areas of the requirements.

This application allows the:
* Creation of a requirements tree for either a release or globally - creating
various nodes (folders)
* Allocating these top-level requirements folders from global to current
releases
* Copying of entire nodes (folders) or individual requirements from other
Releases/Iterations via the Global tree
* Reorganization of the tree
* Importing of requirements from
Excel
* Exporting of requirements to
Excel
It is important to note the relationship between the Release level and Global level of requirements. The Global tree contains the master list of ALL requirements in the Project. Each of the Release level trees (i.e. "Release 1.0", "Release 2.0" etc.) are subsets of the Global tree.

The Requirements application has a Release tree and a Global Tree on the left and a tool bar at the top that has the following functionality:
Add a node or a sub-node
Delete a node or a sub-node
Rename a node or a sub-node
Import requirements
Export requirements

There are two ways to add a node at the Release level.
1. You can create one from scratch
To add a root-level node, select the root ("Release 1.0" in this example) and click on the + button. Enter the name of the node and that now shows up under this root ("Business Reqs" in this example). To create sub-nodes under this, select the root node and click on the + button and enter the name for that node.
Note: Adding a node or a sub-node at this level automatically adds it to the Global tree since Release level requirements are subsets of the Global tree.
2. You can copy one from the Global or Imported trees
Open the Global tree and select the node you want to copy into your Release. Now drag and drop it onto the appropriate node in your Release tree. Now this Global node and all the requirements it contains is associated with this particular Release.
Note: You can only "move" nodes in a Release tree, not "copy" them.
To delete a node or a sub-node, select it and click on the X button. A confirmation dialog lets you pick one of two options:
1. You can delete the node
This will completely delete that requirement node with all the requirements it contains, BOTH in the Release tree and Global tree.
2. You can remove the node
This will remove that requirement node from the Release tree but NOT from the Global tree.
To rename any node or sub-node, select it and click on the pencil button. A dialog pops up that allows you to rename that particular node or sub-node.
Requirements can be imported into Zephyr by clicking on the Import button and following the directions in the wizard.
Requirements can be exported from Zephyr into Excel by selecting a particular node, sub-node, a single requirement or multiple requirements.
Select multiple requirements by holding down the Control key or the Shift key
The tree structure created here is reflected in the Requirements Distribution metrics including the drill-downs into the individual nodes and sub-nodes
